Vathsalan Rajan

Dancer

Vathsalan Rajan is a Bharata Natyam artist who was born in Denmark and grew up in Germany. He was trained as a classical dancer in Chennai (South India) by the renowned Guru V.P. Dhananjayan and his wife C.P. Shanta. For Vathsalan Rajan, Bharata Natyam is not only a classical Indian art form that combines dance, music and literature, but also a philosophy of life that has strongly influenced him. Today he passes on his knowledge to students of dance and is also committed to the preservation and publicising of this holistic tradition in Europe. In a current project, he is working on a dance program for the German audience that aims at conveying the Indian culture.
