Masala Movement Artists

Masala Movement stands for transcultural creativity – and music has been a central part of our journey from the very beginning. On this page, we showcase artists from our network who bring our vision to life through their sounds, sets, and performances. From club nights to community events, our artists move seamlessly between genres, cultures, and stories – bringing fresh perspectives to the stage.

ARTISTS

Cheffe

Ashef Rahmatullah, also known as Cheffe, is a DJ and producer from Cologne. For nearly ten years, he has been spinning records behind the decks, blending UK garage and house with Bengali influences and South Asian soundscapes in his sets. His music embodies cultural translation, club-ready energy, and fresh perspectives on diasporic sounds. His current sound pays homage to Bangladesh and the emerging Bengali rave culture.

Manoj Kurian

Manoj Kurian is a brand designer, social entrepreneur and music lover. His work lies at the intersection of design, communication and culture. As the founder of the creative platform Masala Movement and curator of a wide range of community projects, he creates spaces for post-migrant perspectives. This transcultural approach also shapes his musical style. In his DJ sets, the Cologne-born artist blends different soundscapes – from folk and fusion to global electronic beats. His selection is conceived as a musical dialogue between cultural influences, genres and vibes.

Pooja B

Pooja B moved to Berlin in 2021 after spending more than a decade balancing a career as a flight attendant with DJing to fully focus on her music. Since then, she has become a regular behind the decks. With a keen sense for the dancefloor, she blends driving grooves, hypnotic frequencies, and dark industrial textures. Shaped by Berlin’s club culture, her sound moves between raw techno, energy, and intuition.

Rubimental

Rubimental is a DJ from Bochum who blends the best of rap, dancehall, Afrobeats, Amapiano, future beats, and global bass into her sets. She draws inspiration from other female DJs, particularly DJs of Color. She has already played for radio stations around the world, including Foundation FM (UK), Boxout FM (India), WDR Cosmo (Germany), and 8th Path Radio (USA). Once a month, she hosts her own party, “essence,” at the Schlegel Kultur Club.

Todh Teri

Todh Teri is a music producer and live performer who reimagines film scores from the golden age of Indian cinema for the dance floor. With a flair for vintage disco, cabaret, and cinematic melodies, he blends these elements with deep house, acid, and funk. His acclaimed “Deep In India” series, as well as numerous edits on Masala Movement Records, pay homage to India’s musical heritage – reimagined for today’s clubs. Todh Teri also impresses live with immersive, hardware-based sets that have already been heard from Berlin to Mumbai.

Vineetha

Vineetha Panalickal works as an interior designer, runs her own jewellery label and has a musical preference for RnB and international soul. In 2016, she initiated the NYX event series at the legendary club Roxy, one of the first Cologne events to focus on female DJs and musicians. As part of Masala Movement, she co-curates cultural events and exhibitions.
