Pravini Baboeram

Decolonial Advisory

Pravini Baboeram is a community organizer, decolonial thinker, and creative producer based in the Netherlands. Growing up as a Hindustani woman in a Western context, she often found herself navigating the space between cultures. These experiences shaped her drive to challenge stereotypes and redefine what it means to be Indian or Dutch. For her, masala stands for creative freedom, experimentation, and the power of mixing perspectives.

She is co-founder of 7th Gen Creatives, a platform for socially engaged art inspired by Indigenous values of sustainability and long-term impact. Pravini uses her work to support struggles for justice and liberation within colonized communities.

Her projects include the Tetary Must Rise campaign in Suriname and Indian History Month in the Netherlands. She also wrote, directed, and produced The Uprising, a music documentary on the decolonial movement in Europe.

Pravini is also a co-founder and administrator of the Masala Movement NL community – a local platform for empowerment, artistic collaboration, and exchange within the Surinamese-Hindostani and South Asian diaspora in the Netherlands
