Vathsalan Rajan is a Bharatanatyam artist, born in Denmark and raised in the Rhineland region of Germany. He discovered his passion for classical Indian dance at an early age and later deepened his training in South India. For him, Bharatanatyam is not only a rich art form but also a life philosophy that has shaped his personal and artistic journey.
Today, Vathsalan leads the Masala Movement Bharatanatyam Dance School in Cologne, where he teaches with dedication and care. His aim is to share the depth and expressive power of this tradition and make it accessible in a European context. As choreographer of the dance theatre production Rama & Sita and through ongoing projects, he brings Indian culture into creative dialogue with local perspectives.
