Welcome to the 51st episode of the Masala Movement Podcast series, I am your host Todh Teri. Our guest this time is WeTurnToRed (a.k.a. Shamanta Chandran) is a Syrian-born, Tamil-Canadian producer/DJ/singer/songwriter and scientist, based in Toronto. Growing up on the outskirts of the city, she studied and classically trained in opera and jazz as an arts high school kid. Her deep love for electronic music was ignited, after being introduced to the mid-90’s Toronto rave scene by her older brother.She made her mark in Toronto's electronic music scene through live hardware deep house/techno-focused sets. When Djing she is known as a quality selector of many genres from hip hop, reggae, to house and everything in between. For this podcast she has put together a selection of her all times favourite tunes including one of her own tracks.
