Vatsala Murthy

Vatsala Murthy was born and raised in India, experiencing different parts of the country growing up.  Having lived in Germany since 2006, her frustration with cliched representations of India led to various projects—presenting Indian food, for example, outside the standardised menu available in every Indian restaurant at the time. She loves exploring dichotomies and  hybrids—which is perhaps an expression of her Indian roots coupled with a minimalist aesthetic informed by Europe. She divides her time between her freelance graphic work, her business Indian Goods Co. and dining events—always leaving some free for a glass of wine on the couch, and a book.
